I don’t think I’ve ever gone this long without blogging! So sorry everyone! I have some exciting news though (for those of you who don’t already know) which will explain my absence here in blog land. We are adopting! We made the decision several months ago that it was time. Adoption is something we have always known we would eventually do. I’ll tell you the short version of where we are in the process. After much prayer we decided to adopt a foster child/children so we are going through CPS. We have finished all of the required paperwork and classes, are licensed, and are now just waiting to be matched. We don’t care about race, sex, etc and we are willing to take children from birth to 6 years. Yes, you read that right…children. We are open to sibling groups. We are beyond excited to see who God has for our family!

So that’s where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to lately. Oh and I have been shooting like a mad woman as well! I have so many sessions to blog it’s unreal. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to get caught up. I have sessions from like April I think that haven’t been blogged….not to mention every wedding I’ve shot this year. Fingers crossed that I can become a more consistent blogger again! Here’s just a little peek at some of the sessions I’ve done over the past several months that haven’t made it on the blog yet.

I have had the privilege this year of working with some super old friends…friends from like elementary school. Kammi is one of these friends. Btw, facebook is amazing! I would never have been able to reconnect with Kammi without it I’m sure. Anyway, Kammi was in town for her 10 year HS reunion and had me photograph her boys while they were here. Believe it or not, most sessions are just mass chaos. This session was no different…but you know I love it! Everyone always asks me how I have so much patience with newborns and kids under 5. All I have to say is that it is not me. I’m generally not a very patient person (I’m working on it though!). So I give God all the glory here, haha! Anyway, here are some favorites from their session. Enjoy!

I heart this family so much!! There is just something special about them and you can’t help but feel the presence of the Holy Spirit all around them. I had a lot of fun photographing them on this day! It was a bit of a special session. Mark is in the military and was home on leave after being deployed for several months. They were leaving the next day to move back to Germany where Mark is stationed. I know Kendra must have had a million things to do before moving her family across the world but being a photographer herself she knew how important it was to document her family during this time in their lives. Thanks for calling me to document your family, Kendra! It’s always an honor to photograph another photographer and her fam.

A little shop talk: So I’m having sort of a love affair with sepia tones right now. I blame Elizabeth Messina! I’ve been dreaming of returning to film for some time…not exclusively but at the very least revisiting it often. There’s something about Elizabeth’s sepia tones that make me melt. I’ve come up with a bit of a recipe of my own for some yummy sepianess (I just made that word up). I think there are some stigmas that come with sepia though…like it’s too oldschool, or maybe it’s too country, lol. Curious what some of you other photogs and non-photogs for that matter think.
